Day 5: Every Field Has A Shifty Cow

Les Grandes Ventes - Forges Les Eaux

After a slightly disrupted nights sleep, we packed up our tent and bags and set off at about 10am, realising that today's walk was 19 miles on one, long, road.

We saved a baby hedgehog from the road, a baby bird with a broken wing and realised that every field has a shifty looking cow as well as stopping for Emily to feed every horse we saw (there were many, many horses).

We were spurred on by the honking of every lorry that drove past us, however we are unsure if it was meant in support, or telling us to get off the road. We enjoyed it either way.

Overall, the group is becoming distressed and disappointed at the lack of ice cream shops as we had planned numerous stops each day. We intend to fully compensate for this upon arrival in Paris.

When looking for our hotel in Forges les Eaux, we asked a local for directions. His reply was
"this way. Go. Go. Go go go go!"
And off we walked, walked and walked.

We had crepes and ice cream for dinner. Nom.

We are now half way through our walk! (yay) and are feeling the burn just a little bit, with blisters, sun burn, bad tan lines, swollen hands and feet, sore muscles, dodgy knees, cuts and scratches! Also, prepare yourselves for our bulging calf muscles!!

Mood: Delirious (we need contact with the outside world)

Power Songs:
Lily Allen & Pro Green: Just be good to green
Willow smith: whip my hair
Robbie Williams: let me entertain you
Westlife: Uptown girl

Looking forward to tomorrow!

Emily, Jenny and Leanne x
