Ashtead to Kingston.. & Back Again!

So on Sunday, we completed our first 20 mile walk as a team- walking from Ashtead to Kingston and back again. We all had our walking boots, rucksacks and Count The Kicks t-shirts on and set off at 10am.

The walk there was great- we took just 2 hours 45 minutes to walk 10 miles into the centre of Kingston and felt fine! The main roads were busy with Sunday traffic and, needless to say we got a lot of attention- almost every car was looking at us so hopefully a few of them went home and looked into Count The Kicks!!
After a breif pause for a bacon and cheese pastry in Kingston, we set off on our home route- which was much harder! We stayed in good spirits but the pace was slower and even though we didn't feel it while walking, all three of us had blisters when we took off our boots!

Leanne uses a great iPhone app called Nike+ GPS which tracks your route and distance, allowing you to post it to facebook etc, calculated caloried burned based on your age, weight and height and a celebrity even congratualtes you at the end of your workout! Paula Radcliff told us that we burned 1864 calories on our longest workout yet- not too shabby!

Needless to say, we have to get a lot better at these long walks, so maybe we won't be aching SO much after just one day- as in just five months we will be doing this 10 times over!!

I guess you have to start somewhere!

Emily :)
