"It’s about the 'blokes', our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."
My chosen charity is Help for Heroes. I have always been a huge supporter of the Armed Forces and think the work they do is incredible, risking life and limb for our country every day. Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country.
As an aspiring Occupational Therapist, I believe it is very important to get people back to doing their daily activities and things that are important to them as quickly as possible because meaningful activities can aid in speeding up recovery. Help for Heroes has supported projects at Headley Court, opening the Help for Heroes Rehabilitation Complex on 4th June 2010. Headley Court is very local to me and talking to a friend who works there has given me a greater insight into how important the work they do is.
Please help me raise money for Help for Heroes by donating via Just Giving!
Thank You!
