So this is The Walking Waitresses Blog!
We are Leanne, Emily and Jenny, 3 waitresses working at Superfish in Ashtead, Surrey.
Earlier this year we decided we wanted to do something for charity. We made a list of all the things we could do and finally decided on our most challenging idea, walking from London to Paris. Our goal is to complete the 230 mile walk in ten days at the end of July 2012, with the aim of raising £4000 to divide equally between our 4 charities. The 4 charities we have chosen are, Count The Kicks, Headley Court, Kings Cross Hospital and The Royal Marsden. We selected these charities because not only are they all local but they mean a lot to us personally and to our families and we would like to give something back to them. To find out more about these charities, please click on the charities logos and you will be directed to their website.
We have begun our training by joining our local gym to build up our stamina and muscular endurance (Running around a restaurant a few hours a week isn't quite enough!!) and have personal exercise plans so we know what exercises to do that will help us with our walk. We plan to begin walking together, gradually increasing the distance so we get an idea of what we are letting our selves in for!
We are also planning a raffle to raise money so have e-mailed a number of local businesses and companies to ask for their support by donating prizes. Many have been very supportive and generous.
Leanne, Emily and I are really excited about our London to Paris charity walk and raffle and are enjoying the planning and preparation that is involved. If you have any other fundraising ideas/tips please e-mail us at walkingwaitresses@gmail.com or you can help support us and our charities by making a donation via the Donation link on this page.
We really appreciate your support and will be updating our blog regularly throughout our fundraising journey!
